ASL 1 Class Description
In this beginning class we will learn how to communicate in
sign as we learn vocabulary, group practice, presentations, games, and tests.
We will also explore some of the culture of the deaf community. There will be a
new lesson every week. The student is expected to study the lessons at home,
culminating in a quiz at the beginning of each class time. We will have an exam
and a class presentation at the end of each quarter to reinforce what the
students have learned. (This is a high school level class, but will accept
7th/8th if they can manage the class. Email instructor if you have any
questions.)

ASL 2 Class Description
ASL
1 or equivalent must be previously completed. High school level students
participate in classes designed to learn ASL interactively and comprehensively,
as a foreign language. ASL 2 will continue learning an extensive vocabulary
list, but focus on the grammar and sentence structure. We will be practicing
these rules, syntax, along with more complex conversational skills &
grammar structures. Classes will also continue to cover a basic knowledge of
Deaf culture and history. In addition to advanced ASL concepts, such as
storytelling, students will continue to grow in fluently conversing and
communicating using ASL. Various weekly homework assignments will be given for
independent practice. We will continue to have quizzes, practice
sessions and presentations, but these will be more advanced.

ASL 3 Class Description
In this course, we utilize all the skills from the ASL 1
& 2 to implement practice sentences and paragraphing. There will be
many types of activities to continue in our quest for fluency. We will
often "turn off our voices" and only sign for part of all of the
class to truly stretch our students growth in signing. This is a very fun
and energetic class!

ASL 4 Class Description
This is a high level course with prerequisites for ASL 1-3. With full immersion, we will sign most of the session with what we have learned so far and continuing to learn complicated sentence structure for stories, current events, everyday conversation presentations and much more using classifiers, key phrases, role shifting, listing, and facial grammar.
